JAKARTA (RambuEnergy) – The state utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) East Nusa Tenggara provincial office has officiated the operation of the Maumere-Ropa-Ende solar PV project.
General Manager of PLN for NTT Region Ignatius Rendroyoko said in Kupang on Friday (March 15) that the operation of the solar PV project was marked by the signing of the commercial operation date (COD) of the project with PT Indo Solusi Utama, as the main developer of the project.
“The PLTS (solar PV) has effectively begun operating since today and will strengthen the electricity supply in the two Regencies (Maumere and Ende) on the Island of Flores,” Redroyoko said as quoted by state-run news agency Antara.
The PLTS Maumere-Ropa-Ende is located in two locations, namely Wairbeler, Waigete subdistrict in Sikka Regency and Popanda Village in Wewaria subdistrict in Ende Regency.
The solar PV has a capacity of 1 MWp in each location.
Acting as the main EPC of the project is TMLEnergy, in cooperation with Conergy Asia Pacific.
The electricity generated by the solar PV power plant in Maumere and Ende will be delivered to PLN grid to help meet the electricity demand in Flores Island. The electricity purchase agreement between PLN East Nusa Tenggara and PT Indo Solusi Utama was signed in 2016.
The solar PV power plant in both areas has the capacity to produce 2,800 MWh of energy per year. The energy can supply the electricity needs of 24,000 houses, especially in the area of Flores Island.
According to TMLEnergy, with this solar PV power plant, Flores Island has avoided greenhouse gas emissions of 2,615.20 tons of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to planting 67,056 trees in 998.42 hectares of forest. (*)
