JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – State-owned company PT Indah Karya and Enercon GmbH, a global wind turbine producer, on Monday (Feb. 11) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop wind turbines in Indonesia.
The cooperation between the two companies will cover joint research and development, delivery, installation and maintenance of wind turbines in Indonesia.
The cooperation is also seen as an effort to support the government’s drive to increase the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy mixed.
Wind turbines aims to support plywood and wood pellet plant owned by Indah Karya. The production and fabrication of the wind turbines will be undertaken by Enercon, utilizing the Germany company’s latest technology.
The cooperation also aims to increase the capacity of domestic industry, in particular in developing renewable and friendly energy, in particular wind power, given the country’s abundant resources.
Indah Karya currently operates a plywood industry in Bondowoso, East Java. At the same occasion, Indah Karya made purchase order for wind turbine component with installed capacity of 1 MW.
The above MoU was signed by President Director of Indah Karya Nel Adianto and Managing Director of Enercon of German Stefen Lutkemeyer, witnessed by assistant to the SOE Deputy Minister for Construction and Transportation Facilities III Hendrika Nora Osloi Sinaga as well as President Commissioner of Indah Karya Trisasongko Widianto.
