President Jokowi officiates 8 mobile power plants

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – President Joko Widodo at the weekend officiated the operation of eight mobile power plants (MPPs) with combined capacity of 500 MW, spreading in 8 locations within the country.

The President inaugurated the operations of those MPPs in Mempawah, West Kalimantan last Saturday (March 18).

Following is the list of the MPPs:

1. MPP Jeranjang, Lombok (2×25 MW), started operation on July 27, 2016
2. MPP Air Anyir, Bangka (2×25 MW), started operation on Sep 13, 2016
3. MPP Tarahan, Lampung (4×25 MW), started operatio on Sept 29, 2016
4. MPP Nias, West Sumatera (1×25 MW), started operation on Oct 29, 2016
5. MPP Parit Baru, Mempawah, West Kalimantan (4×25 MW), started operation on Nov 8, 2016
6. MPP Balai Pungut, Riau (75 MW), started operation on Nov 13, 2016
7. MPP Suge, Belitung (1×25 MW), started operation on Nov 22, 2016
8. MPP Paya Pasir, Medan (75 MW), started operation on Dec 9.

President Jokowi said he is confident that the operation of the powerp lants will help stimulate local economic development. The power plants are expected to light up up to100,000 households.

The government opted to develop MPP as it is quicker way to help resolve power shortage in a number of areas. The MPPs can be moved to other places once a fixed power plant is established in the location.
