Setya Novanto elected as Golkar Party chairman, replacing Aburizal Bakrie

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – Setya Novanto, former People’s Representative Council (DPR) Speaker, has been elected as new Chairman of Golkar Party through voting mechanism, replacing Aburizal Bakrie for the period of 2016-2019. The election process takes place at the Golkar Party Extraordinary National Meeting (Munaslub) being held in Bali.

Setya Novanto becomes new Golkar chairman after winning majority votes (277 votes) out of total 554 votes.  Ade Komarudin came in second place with 173 votes, while other candidates got marginal votes — Erlangga Hartarto 14 votes, Mahyudin 2 votes, Priyo Budi Santoso one vote, Aziz Syamsuddin 48 votes, Idra Bambang Utoyo one vote and Syahrul Yasin Limbo 27 votes. 11 Votes declared as invalid.

Aburizal Bakrie on the other hand has been appointed as Head of Advisory Council of the party. (*)
