Indonesia to auction 19 geothermal working areas this year

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry plans to auction 19 geothermal working areas this year. These are parts of the total 27 geothermal WKs to be auctioned by the ministry with total capacity of 1,535 MW until end 2017.

Director for Geothermal at the Directorate General for New, Renewable and Energy Conservation of the energy ministry Yunus Saifulhak said the 19 WKs will be offered through two schemes, opened tender and direct offer to the state-owned companies.

“19 WKs will be offered in 2016. 11 blocks will be given to the state-owned companies and eight working areas will be auctioned through opened tender,”Yunus was quoted by Investor Daily as saying.

He added the government also mulls a plan to award companies to conduct survey and if they discovered potential geothermal energy, the will be offered to develop the working area directly.

Of the 27 WKs, the ministry has earlier auctioned five WKs. They are Gunung Lawu WK with capacity of 165 MW has been awarded to PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, WK Way Rata with capacity of 55 MW is being offered with PT Pertamina and PT Optima Nusantara Energy and Enel Green Power SPA were shortlisted as preferred bidders.

The three other WKs – Marana (36 MW), Gunung Talang Bukit Kili (20 MW) and Danau Ranau (40 MW) are being offered.

Following are among geothermal working areas to be auctioned until 2017.

1. WK Banjal with capacity of 60 MW and potential investment of US$240 million
2. Gunung Talang Bukit Kili with capacity of 20 MW and potential investment of US$80 million
3. Gunung Kelud with potential capacity of 40 MW and potential investment of US$160 million
4. Candi Umbul Tekmoyo with capacity of 55 MW and potential investment of US$220 million
5. Gunung Wilis with capacity of 80 MW and potential investment of US$80 million
6. Gunung Arjuno Welirang with capacity of 110 MW and potential investment of US$440 million
7. Gunung Pandan with capcity of 10 MW and potential investment of US$40 million
8. Gunung Gede Pangrango with capacity of 55 MW and potential investment of US$220 million
9. Songgom with capacity of 20 MW and potential of US$80 million
10. Sipoholan Ria-Ria with capacity of 20 MW and investment plan of US$80 million.
11. Simbolon Samosir with capacity of 110 MW and potential investment of US$440 million
12.Graho Nyabu with capacity of 110 MW and potential investment of US$440 million
13. Sumawa with capacity of 20 MW and potential investment of US$80 million.
14. Sembalun with capacity of 20 MW and potential investment of US$80 million.
15. Oka-lie Ange with capacityof 10 MW and potential investment of US$40 million.
16. Bora Pulu with capacity of 40 MW and investment of US$160 million
17. Gunung Hamiding with capacity of 10 MW and investment of US$40 million
18. Bonga Wayaua 5 with capacity of 5 MW and investment plan of US$20 million
19. Gunung Geureudong with capacity of 110 MW and potential investment of US$440 million.
20. Gunung Galunggung with capacity of 110 MW and potential investment of US$440 million.
21. Gunung Ciremai with capacity of 110 MW and potential investment of potential investment of US$440 million. (*)
