Indonesia energy ministry to auction 3 non-conventional blocks next month

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) plans to auction non-conventional gas blocks on Nov. 2, delayed from original plan of September. The move is part of the government’s plan to boost exploration activities in the country.

Director General for Oil and Gas I.G.N wiratmaja Puja said his office has to delay the auction as the government was finalizing a new ministerial regulation. The three non-conventional gas blocks are Blora Deep in Central Java, Batu Ampar in East Kalimantan and Sentral Bangkanai in Central Kalimantan.

The three blocks will be auction through direct offer scheme.

The scheme to develop the blocks will also be changed. Previously, the non-conventional gas blocks use common scheme, namely production sharing contract. Under the new scheme, the government offers sliding scale scheme or gross split. Under the new scheme, the operator will have larger split. (*)
