JAKARTA (Rambu Energy) – President Joko Widodo on Saturday (Nov. 8) heads for Beijing to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. The trip is his first overseas travel as Head of State since installed as the 7th President of Republic of Indonesia.
As reported by detik.com, the President was accompanied by his wife Iriana and his daughter Kahiyang Ayu as well as few cabinet ministers. The ministers who joined his trip are Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sofyan Djalil, Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel, Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, and few his expert staffs as well as journalists.
The President and his entourage took off from the Halim Perdanakusumah Airport in East Jakarta at 09.30 am, Saturday (Nov 7).
After attending APEC Summit, the President will carry on his trip to Myanmar to attend ASEAN Summit and then fly to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, to attend the G-20 meeting.
Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjojanto on Friday told reporters at the State Palace that President Widodo is expected to deliver his views about infrastructure development in Asian region at the APEC Summit next week. He will speak about the infrastructure development and linking it with the ‘maritime axis’ concept that will be focused under his government.
President Joko Widodo, added Widjajanto, is scheduled to meet face to face with a number of Head of States, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, the US President Barrack Obama and the President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping and PRC Prime Minister Li Keqiang. The President is also scheduled to visit industrial area in Tianjin, China. (*)
