PT Lundin Industry receives order from Bangladesh to build 18 fast patrol boat

JAKARTA (Rambu Energy) – PT Lundin Industry Invest, a vessel building company based in town of Banyuwangi, East Java province, said it is currently building 18 fast patrol boat worth Rp75 billion, ordered by the Bangladesh government.

Lundin Industry Director Lisa Lundin was quoted by Kompas daily as saying that the patrol boat will have a maximum speed of 35 knots with length of 11.7 meters. The patrol boats are new type of products built at the Lundin shipbuilding facility.

Lisa Lundin said the Bangladesh government decided to order the patrol boat to Lundin after observing Lundin’s products and capability during trade-shows in Singapore, Myanmar and Malaysia two years ago.

“We took part in an international tender attended by companies from 17 countries. We finally won the tender,” said Lisa after completing the building of X12 patrol boat in Banyuwangi.

Bangladesh Deputy Director General for Coast Guard Commodore Yahya Syed said his office appointed Lundin Industry to build the fast patrol boat as the company meets the qualification set by his office.

Lundin Industry Invest, whose products are known as North Sea Boats, is currently building additional 27 various types of vessels, including vessels ordered by the Indonesian Navy.

The company has shipbuilding facilities, which including building facility to build component on area of 5,000 square meters and production area of 38,000 square meters. Lundin employs 350 workers.

PT Lundin Industry Invest was established in 2002 by a couple John Ivar Allan Lundin of Sweden and his Indonesian wife Lisa Lundin. John Lundin carries on his family shipbuilding business legacy, in particular building patrol boats, fast commercial vessels and luxury yachts. (*)
