JAKARTA (RambuEnegy.com) – The Indonesia Electricity Society (MKI) ties up with PennWell, an international exhibition and conference firm, to hold the 73th Indonesia National Electricity Day on Sept. 18-20.
The organizers hope to make the conference as a venue for experts, regulators, investors and industry players to discuss power and energy issues, which is expected to remain a pressing issue for Indonesia in the coming decades.
Deputy Chairman of MKI Andri Doni said the upcoming Power-Gen conference and exhibition will mainly focus on two issues, first on how to improve local content in the national power industry as a move to boost the sustainable economy as well as the renewable energy, which is abundant in the country.
“This forum is expected to become a strategic venue for experts, regulators and players in the power industry to meet and discuss the development of electricity industry and help stimulate the national economy,” Doni said.
He noted that in the past few years, the main theme of the national electricity day has been evolved around the issue of meeting the 35 GW power development program. Given that the program is now in progress, it is time for the country to move to the next sustainable issue.
Deputy Secretary-General of MKI Djoni Dzulkifli added that the local content (KDN) issue is expected to stimulate the establishment of the partnership, transfer of technology and investment. PLN, he added, will play a key role in controlling, and setting the requirements in developing power projects. For instance, the level of local content could be one of the aspects in determining tender winners. (*)
