PLN launches PQ process for rehabilitating ageing Kamojang geothermal plant units

JAKARTA ( – State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has launched prequalification of applicants for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the rehabilitation works of Kamojang Geothermal Power plant Units 2 and 3.

“PLN wishes to select potential bidders to rehabilitate and modernize Units 2 & 3 includes mechanical, electrical, control & instrumentation works for the main plant and equipment such as steam turbines, generators, cooling towers, vent station, control systems and instrumentation,” PLN said.

The Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant Units 2 and 3 with installed capacity of 110 MW (2x55MW) which was commissioned in 1987, has been operating for over 30 years and is nearing the end of their design life.

PLN has received a loan from KfW, a German state-owned development bank towards the cost for this rehabilitation project.

This PQ is open to interested party or parties, either domestic or foreign parties in partner with domestic comapnies, who have previous experience in developing generation projects. The interested parties will be selected throgh a competitive bidding process from a pool of applicants that meet the criteria set forth in the PQ document.

The company said only applicants that meet all of the qualification criteria set forth in the PQ document will be shortlisted and invited to submit a bid proposal for the project.
