JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – Indonesia’s Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto held meeting on Monday night (Oct 16) with President of Fujitrans Corporation Tatsuo Keli in Tokyo. Both parties seek to cooperate in developing maritime industry, shipbuilding and logistic industry in Indonesia.0

Minister Airlangga said the Indonesian government is currently trying to speed up the development of an integated maritime industry (KIM), namely Repindo International maritime Industrial Park in Tanggamus, Semangka Bay in Lampung. The Japanese firm could play a part in the plan.

According to him, KIM will play pivotal role in supporting the Joko Widodo government to develop maritime axis. Therefore, he hopes Fujitrans Corporation, as an investor in KIM Tenggamus can realize its investment soon.

“They have a plan to develop shipbuilding, vessel recycle area and supporting industries, including logistic industry in KIM Tanggamus,” he said.

The maritime zone industrial area is being developed on 3,500 hectares of land. Minister Airlangga said Fujitrans is proposing to use RORO vessel to create efficient logistic system. Under the system, container trucks can enter the vessel and unload containers on the spot, therefore there is no need to use cranes to load and unload containers at the port. That could cut loading activities.

Both parties also discussed about the development of Patimban container port, as an alternative to Tanjung Priok in the north Jakarta. (*)
