Marine vessel power plant Zaynen Sultan to light up North Sumatera area

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – Marine Vessel Power Plant (MVPP) Zaynep Sultan has arrived at Belawan Port, Medan in North Sumatera on Saturday (May 20), which will help resolve power shortage in the region.

North Sumatera Governor H. Tengku Erry Nuradi said the MVPP is projected address power shortage in the North Sumatera area. The mobile power plant arrived after sailing from Turkey.

The MVPP has a length of 300 meters and width of 50 meters. It is equipped with diesel power plant (PLTD) made by Wartsile with capacity of 18.81 MW per unit with total machines of 24 units and coal fired power plant (PLTU).

Currently, the installed capacity of power plants in northern Sumatera reached 2,100 MW and peak consumption of 2,075 MW. The additional capacity of 240 MW from the MVPP will help resolve the power shortage.

The deployment of MVPP is a temporary move in order to resolve power shortage in the short-term. Once fixed power plant is in operation, the MVPP can be moved to other places. (*)
