Energy Minister Jonan launches Indonesia wind power roadmap

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan in cooperation with Denmark Minister for Development Cooperation Ulla Tornaes have launched roadmap for Wind Energy in Power System on Tuesday (May 2).

The roadmap was launched at a business gathering, Indonesia and Denmark Energy Business Forum.

The roadmap contains the wind power potentials in Indonesia which will be opened for business players to develop or invest. The roadmap is used as reference for both players and the regulator to integrate the wind power and the national grid systme operated by PLN.

Indonesia has a number of wind power potentials located on Java, South Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggar and Maluku islands. Some wind power projects are being developed in the country such as in Bantul, Sukabumi  on Java Island, Sidrap as well as in Jeneponto in South Sulawesi.

The government targets windpower with installed capacity of 2500 MW by 2025. The wind power is part of renewables that are being developed by Indonesia to achieve its energy mixed of 23% by 2025. (*)
