JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – Indonesian Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan on Tuesday (Apr 4) has installed Andy Noorsaman Sommeng, former head of Agency for Downstream Oil and Gas (BPH Migas), as new Director General for Electricity.
Sommeng replaces Jarman who has retired from Apr 1, 2017.
During recent selection process of new BPH Migas head for period of 2017-2022, Andy Sommeng decided to pull out from the selection process. Sommeng was replaced by Fanshurullah Asa as new BPH Migas.
The minister calls on the new director general for electricity Sommeng to carry out his job well, fast and efficient in line with the hopes of the public.
Andy Noorsaman Sommeng has a huge job to support the government’s drive to develop 35,000 MW of power plant program by 2019. The energy minister Jonan has said recently that around 20,000 MW of power plant program is likely to completed by 2019.
Andy Sommeng, born on March 31, 1959, graduated from Civil Engineering Faculity of University of Indonesia in 1993. He was also former director general for Copyrights at the Ministry for Justice and Human Rights. he earned bachelor of science on gas and petrochemical from University of Indonesia and master degree on computer and chemical from UTC, France. He earned his PhD (doctorate degree) from Ecole Centrale Paris. (*)
