JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – The Riau Province Immigration office in Sumatera has deported 14 illegal workers at Tenayan coal-fired power plant to their owned country, China, after found to have failed to show proper documents.
The 14 workers were flown to Jakarta on Monday night from Riau to Jakarta and then were flown back to China. “They are also black listed from re-entering Indonesia,” Riau Immigration Office Head Sutrisno said, as quoted by Sindonews.com.
Earlier, immigration office of Riau Province made impromptu visit to Tenayan power plant project recently, where 100 workers from China were deployed. However, some of them were found to have failed to show the required documents.
The government of Indonesia, in particular the immigration and manpower ministry has intensified cracking on illegal workers working in the country.
The Manpower Minister Hanif Daikiri said recently that over the past one year, 700 illegal workers have been found and that some of them have already been deported and some in the process of completing the required documents.
An executive at Gema Mitra Balibelo, which helps and processed documents for foreign citizens to work in Indonesia, said that there are some documents that needed by foreign citizens to work in Indonesia. As long as they obtained and process the documents, they should not be worried in working in the country.
Minister hanif said some illegal workers that have been captured were working in companies located in Kalimantan, Depok, Tangerang, Morowali in Sulawesi Island, and others.
The ministry is working with the immigration office as well as local governments to crack down the illegal workers. The illegal workers work in various sectors such as mining, power and agriculture. (*)
