JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – PT Sintra Power Elektrik said it is investing US$20 million to develop manufacturing plant to produce transformer product in Cikarang, West Java province. The company is attempting to tap growing demand for transformers in the country in line with the government’s drive to develop 35,000 MW of power plants in the next five years.
On Tuesday, the company inaugurates the transformer plant which will have capacity to produce 100 mega volt ampere (MVA) and 10 kilo volt (kv).
Director of PT Sinta Power Elektrik Yohanes Purnawan Widjaja said the main customer of the company is PLN and independent power plants as well as companies in mining, paper and mining industries.
The company, said Yohanes targets to produce 25 units of transformer for PLN and 15 units for other industries per year.
Currently, there are limited producers for high-tension transformers in Indonesia. The company is trying to tap this opportunity.
PT Sintra Power Elektrik is a subsidiary of PT Sintra Sinarindo Elektrik which was found in 1996. It partners with Shen Chang Group of Taiwan. (*)
