JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – Industry Minister Saleh Husin said PT Artha Metal Sinergi (AMS) owned by Panji Winata, son of tycoon Tommy Winata, to develop a manufacturing plant to produce metal products with an undisclosed partner.
The minister on Tuesday (Aug. 25) said that Panji and his business colleague Felix Effendi have met him at his office to convey their plan. AMS will also in early September sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with their partner.
“They invited me to witness the MoU,” Minister Husin was quoted by detik.com as saying.
AMS is part of Artha Graha Network, a group of companies owned by businessman Tomy Winata.
CEO of AMS Felix Effendi said his company will build their first metal plant on Java island in collaboration with an overseas partner. The metal plant is designed to be an integrated manufacturer – from upstream to downstream.
He said in the first phase, the company will develop downstream part of the plant. The construction of the plant will take about 1.5 years, while the whole project construction (upstream to downstream) will take about 5 to 7 years.
“The need for metal products in Indonesia is huge. We aim to serve domestic market because so far domestic market demand is met by the imported products from China,” said Felix Effendi. (*)
