Nusantara Energy plans to build LNG floating storage, mini plant in East Java

JAKARTA (rambuenergy.com) – PT Nusantara Energy Plant Indonesia (NEPI) said it is planning to build an LNG floating storate, mini refinery and power plant in Kambe Industrial Estate in  Banyuwangi, East Java with an estimated investment of US$1.6 billion.

“We choose Banyuwangi because it is closer to Bali. In addition, Bali is determined to use friendlier energy sources. There is already gas-power plant in the area,” President Director of NEPI Junaidi Elvis was quoted by state owned news agency Antara.

Junaidi said the floating storage will have a capacity of 100,000 metric tons (MT), while the mini refinery will process condensate into aviation fuel and premium fuel.

He said the power plant will support the government’s program to develop 35,000 MW of power plants in the next five years. The company is considering to build a 1,000 MW of power plant. Currently, the company is conducting a joint feasibility study with US giant General Electric.

Junaidi said the projects will be developed on 50 hectares of land with a target to begin construction next year and completed in 36 months. Kambe Industrial Eastate Banyuwangi covers an area of 2,411 hectares.
